Firefighters were called out to a report of two cars smoking after a collision on the A66.
The incident on Gatherley Moor was reported at about 6pm on Friday.
All occupants were out of the vehicles when the Richmond crew arrived.
Firefighters made the vehicles and scene safe before leaving the incident with the police.
