Pupils from Le Cateau Primary School have received some help with their latest topic by local firefighters.
Year 1 children at the Catterick Garrison school have been learning about the Great Fire of London.
As part of this topic they were asked to make buildings at home to burn in a re-enactment of this major blaze.
The school then invited firefighters in from Richmond Fire Station to ensure the event was safe, and invited the parents in to watch with their children.
Headteacher Ian Mottram said: “Everyone really enjoyed watching it and even had a chance to sit in the fire engine and have a go of the hose.
“We were very grateful to the fireman for taking time out of their day to come an assist with this and for making the time to talk to the children and answer any questions they had.”
In the afternoon the class teachers had a discussion about fire safety with all the children.
