Firefighters were called out to rescue two motorcyclists stuck in a flooded stream in the Dales today.

One rider tried to drive across the ford at Gayle, near Hawes.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the bike and rider then got washed down the river a short distance.

A second rider then went in to help and they both got stuck.

Fire crews from Hawes and Leyburn were joined by swift water rescue teams from Richmond and Ripon.

The beck was flooded after days of heavy rain.
