Firefighters were called to a vehicle fire on the A1(M) soundbound between Scotch Corner and Gatherley Road yesterday.
Crews from Darlington, Richmond and Northallerton responded to the incident at 5.36pm.
The fire caused damage to the vehicle’s engine compartment and footwell.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the blaze and dampen down the area.
The incident was later handed over to National Highways.
