Crews from Colburn and Richmond attended the incident at about 8.50pm on Monday.

The fire had started in one vehicle and spread to another nearby.

The blaze set off the fire alarms in neighbouring buildings.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Colburn and Richmond attended a fire involving a van which spread to a car.

“The fire caused 100% damage to the van and 50% to the car.

“Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
