They arrived at the farm at Kilgram Lane, Jervaulx, to find a barn containing 330 bales of straw well alight.

Richmond and Rpon crews were called to help, as well as a water bowser crew.

Firefighters used hose reels and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.

They managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

It is understood the nextdoor barn contained pigs. The animals were released from the building in case the fire spread.

The cause of the the fire is believe to be deliberate and North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating.

It is understood a house party was taking place at a property near the barn and police are investigating possible links between the party and the blaze.
