Firefighters tackle large blaze at Brompton-on-Swale industrial unit

Around 30 firefighters tackled a large fire in Brompton-on-Swale last night.

The blaze occurred at a waste site at Scorton Road, understood to be the Yorwaste depot.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said around 200 tonnes of waste were ablaze.

The fire was reported at 7.13pm on Tuesday.

Crews from Richmond, Leyburn, Colburn, Northallerton, Bedale and Boroughbridge were called to tackle the blaze.

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Crews have now left the scene but will revisit to check the site on Wednesday.
