First Covid-19 linked death in Richmondshire since July

A Richmondshire resident has died after testing positive for Covid-19 — the first death linked to the virus since July.

The death occurred in hospital in the week starting November 9, which is the latest week local figures have been released for by the Office for National Statistics.

The previous death of a Richmondshire resident who had tested positive for the virus was in week starting July 20.

The death brings the number of people in the district who have died with Covid-19 to 52.

However, latest Government figures show the number of people testing positive for coronavirus is falling.

Daily confirmed cases in Richmondshire.

The daily average for the district has now fallen to 11.7 positive tests, compared to 22.4 a fortnight ago.

There was just one positive test recorded on Monday and six on Sunday, although these figures may increase in coming days.

There has been 937 confirmed cases in Richmondshire in total since the pandemic began.
