Hudspeth Flooring are the latest business to receive an award from the Richmondshire Dementia Friendly Communities Group.
The group, which brings together organisations working to support and care for people with dementia, recognised the company for going “above and beyond” to help local services.
Carol Sherwood, manager at Garget Walker House – which provides day services for people with dementia and is run by Dementia Forward – presented the award to Tom, Emma and Lisa from Hudspeth Flooring.
She said: “It was a pleasure and a delight to present The Richmond Dementia Friendly Award to Hudspeth Flooring. This is a local company who went above and beyond to support Dementia Forward’s Richmond Hub.
“Hudspeth Flooring not only offered guidance on flooring but replaced and fitted the carpets free of charge. Thank you for being a part of making Richmondshire a Dementia Friendly Society.”
The new flooring has made the lounge and dining areas at Garget Walker House more accessible for wheelchair users.
The Richmondshire Dementia Friendly Communities Group is inviting nominations for people, groups or businesses making a difference. To nominate, contact Linda on 07507 355526.
Dementia Forward is the local dementia support charity and offers advice, support and social opportunities. It runs day services in Richmond, known as Hub Clubs, where people with dementia can take part in activities such as art, games and music, while carers benefit from respite time.
