A five-piece folk rock band described as a “raucous bunch of reprobates” is set to return to Swaledale next month.
Blackbeard’s Tea Party will take to the stage at Reeth Memorial Hall on Friday, March 20 as part of their ‘Still Reprobates’ tour.
Known for their high-energy performances, the band combine drums, electric guitars, fiddle, melodeon and four-part vocal harmonies to deliver a bombastic rock edge to traditional sea shanties and folk instrumentals. Their live shows are packed with musicianship, playful choreography and plenty of audience interaction.
The tour celebrates ten years since the release of their seminal album Reprobates, a collection of songs telling the stories of historical “wrong’uns”, alongside other tales of nefarious characters from past and present that feature throughout their back catalogue.
Over the years, Blackbeard’s Tea Party have built a reputation on the national and international festival circuit, performing at major events including Glastonbury, the Cambridge Folk Festival, Fairport’s Cropredy Convention and the Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo.
Tickets for the Reeth concert are priced at £17 in advance and £19 on the door, with under-16s admitted at half price.
They are available from Reeth Post Office or by contacting Glen Steward on 01748 884989 or emailing memorialhall@swaledale.org.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, with proceeds going towards Reeth Memorial Hall funds.
