Acclaimed folk trio Leveret will put their audience in charge when they return to Swaledale for a concert next month.
The group, comprising melodeon player Andy Cutting, fiddler Sam Sweeney and concertina player Rob Harbron, will perform at Reeth Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 3.
The concert will form part of the trio’s first all-request tour, with members of the audience invited to choose the music they want to hear.
Concert-goers will be able to write down requests when they arrive and put them into a box, with the musicians drawing selections live on stage.
Organisers say Leveret’s entire back catalogue will be available, meaning each concert on the tour will have a different setlist.
Formed in 2014, Leveret have developed a reputation for taking a spontaneous approach to traditional English folk music, relying on the musicians listening and responding to each other rather than using conventional arrangements.
All three members have established careers in English folk music.
Cutting is a three-time winner of the BBC Folk Awards’ Best Musician title and has worked with performers including June Tabor and Kate Rusby.
Sweeney, who was named BBC Folk Awards Musician of the Year in 2015, is known for his work with Bellowhead and The Full English, while Harbron has performed with musicians including Jon Boden and Emily Portman.
The Reeth appearance will be the trio’s third visit to the village.
Organisers said: “No two nights will be the same. Old favourites, lesser-known tunes — it’s all possible, and it’s all up to the audience.”
The concert starts at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £20 in advance or £22 on the door, with tickets for under-16s half price. Proceeds will go towards Reeth Memorial Hall funds.
Tickets are available from Reeth Post Office or by contacting Glen Steward on 01748 884989 or at memorialhall@swaledale.org.
