A former dance student who has recently graduated with a first-class degree has returned to help young performers prepare for an appearance at Reeth Arts Festival at the weekend.
Daisy Binks, who began her dance training with the academy, has spent part of the summer working with students and choreographing a routine for their performance at the festival.
The youngsters have also given up some of their summer holidays to attend rehearsals ahead of the event.
Daisy had already returned to the academy during the summer to help as a chaperone during its recent shows at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond.
She then approached the academy with the idea of creating a routine with some of its students for the arts festival.
Academy director Hazel Richmond said the girls had thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the performance.
She added: “We would like to thank Daisy Binks for the time and effort that she has put into the preparations.
“We are incredibly proud of Daisy, who began her dance journey with us and has just graduated with a first-class degree, BA Hons in Professional Dance, at Dance City.”
Daisy will continue her studies this month when she begins a master’s degree at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds.
Hazel added: “What a fabulous achievement. Our students are so very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her.
“It’s been a pleasure having her back and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.”
The performance comes as the academy prepares for the start of its new term, with returning and new students joining classes including ballet, tap, contemporary, street, musical theatre and acting, acrobatics and Mini Movers.
The academy also runs workshops, theatre trips, social events and other performance opportunities for its students.
