Food lovers are being invited to discover the secrets behind one of the world’s most loved ingredients when a former Royal Pastry Chef visits Leyburn this spring for a special talk and tasting event.
Kathryn Cuthbertson, MVO, will lead The Journey of the Cocoa Bean at The Garden Rooms at Tennants on Thursday, May 14, beginning at 11am.
The event promises an immersive and informative experience, combining expert insight, guided chocolate tasting and a two-course lunch. Drawing on a distinguished 32-year career, Kathryn has worked alongside some of the world’s leading chefs in prestigious hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as serving as a Royal Pastry Chef.
During the talk, guests will be taken through the fascinating journey of the cocoa bean, from harvest through to production. Kathryn will explain how chocolate is made and explore the four main varieties – dark, milk, white and ruby – highlighting their flavour profiles, ideal pairings and uses in professional kitchens.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to taste and compare different chocolates under Kathryn’s expert guidance, learning how subtle differences in production and ingredients influence flavour and texture.
Organisers say the event is designed to appeal not only to keen home cooks and chocolate enthusiasts, but also to aspiring chefs and anyone with an interest in fine patisserie and food craftsmanship.
Following the talk and tasting session, guests will enjoy a freshly prepared two-course lunch, rounding off what is expected to be a memorable culinary experience.
Tickets are priced at £40 per person, which includes the talk, chocolate tasting and lunch. Places are limited and advance booking is essential.
