Two young Leyburn business people have launched a new venture together.
Hannah Russell, 23, who wrote the Little Alf series of books about her miniature Shetland pony and also owns a shop in Leyburn Market town, has co-founded Happ Candle with old schoolfriend Ben Bartlett, 24, from Leyburn.
The pair both attended The Wensleydale school and came up with the idea earlier this year.
The candles are hand made in Yorkshire with natural ingredients and are also vegan friendly and cruelty free. The candles are also produced with eco-wicks to ensure a slow burn .
The business was set to launch at the beginning April April but the start was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hannah said: “It’s been great to launch online, although I’ve had to close my shop and many business have across the world, it’s a great time to be looking online, so far it’s been a success with some nice review coming in.
“A lot of people are buying products online at the moment and sending them to friends and family to show they are thinking of them, we wanted to offer the same structure with Happi Candle.”
The business currently has three candles, juicy juicy orange, fresh linen and fresh lavender, and has plans to expand in to new ranges and fragrances.
Ben said: “Developing the brand is going to be a great project and challenge.
“Happi is a positive project and we have lots planned in the future to build a bigger business.”
