Fresh funding available for Richmondshire businesses force to close due to lockdown

Richmondshire businesses which have closed as a result of the current lockdown could get new funding help from the Government.

The district council has received funding from central government in order to start making payments from the new Additional Restrictions Grant fund.

Information request forms will be available early next week on the council’s website.

Businesses required to close due to the new national restrictions will be eligible for the following:

  • for properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 per 28-day qualifying restriction period
  • for properties with a rateable value of £15 – £51k, grants to be £2,000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period
  • for properties with a rateable value of £51k or over, grants to be £3,000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period

The council will be using additional funding provided by Government to set up an Additional Restrictions Grant which will help businesses required to close but do not have a business rates bill, along with other businesses that are adversely affected by the new lockdown.

The council’s policy for this discretionary grant scheme is currently being developed and will be ready for applications in the next two weeks.
