
Richmond’s iconic Friary Tower turned all the colours of the rainbow tonight to celebrate six months to go to theUCI Road World Championships.
Richmond marketplace will welcome the world’s top cyclists later this year when the men’s junior road race sets off from the cobbles on Thursday September 26.
Riders will cycle through Catterick Garrison, Leyburn and Aysgarth as they head to the finish line in Harrogate 144.5km later.
And the following weekend riders will once again venture into the district passing through the Dales on the final day of the championships.
Thursday marked the six month countdown to the championships and to celebrate landmarks across Yorkshire were lilt up in the iconic UCI rainbow colours. They were in Beverley, Leeds, Doncaster, Knaresborough, Northallerton, Bradford and Richmond.
