Two friends will set off to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats at the weekend.
Wensleydale businessmen David Broadley and Pete Blackburn, both 61, hope to complete the route by the end of July.
They are taking on the 800-mile challenge to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service, the Sepsis Trust and Wensleydale RUFC.
David said they will be completing the journey at their own pace.
“We are not in a rush but hope to finish on July 22.
“As someone had said to me it’s about the journey not the destination — similar to life really.
“So we aim to have a lot of fun, taste lots of different beers and whiskey, and raise a bit of money for good causes on the way.”
The walkers, who are taking a campervan with them to aid logistics, will be joined by their wives, Shirley and Jenny, for the first week of the trip as they set off from Land’s End.
They are also taking a break in May to attend weddings, with Pete’s daughter and David’s stepson due to get married in that month.
David added: “We plan to walk no further than 15 miles a day and have Sundays off to replenish stocks and wash clothes!”
