A fundraising event will take place next month for this year’s MayFest — three days of medieval song, dance, music and storytelling in and around Richmond.

MayFest trustees are holding a ‘Reveal Appeal’ night at the Station Café Bar on Thursday, Match 14.

Entertainment on the night will include Durham folk duo Ran Tanners and Richmond-based Pellingmans’ Saraband, as well as musicians Gill Page and Paul Leigh of local band Trouvere, who will be giving a whistle stop tour of 20 medieval musical instruments in 20 minutes.

All guests will be welcomed with a glass of bucks fizz or beer and a selection of canapes.

They will also be invited to have a free go in the lucky dip with prizes including a free year of Friends’ membership.

There will also be plus tombola with  prizes given by Richmond’s independent retailers.

Marcia McLuckie, MayFest trustee, said: “Because the event is also about raising money to support the weekend’s entertainments.

“Guests are invited to become Friends of Richmond MayFest, to make a donation or to become personal or corporate sponsors.

“Guests who become Friends on the night receive free entry to the Reveal Appeal as the £10 ticket price will be deducted from their membership fee.

This is also an opportunity to find out how to become a volunteer of MayFest and what tasks can be done to support the event, which this year is from Friday, May 3 to Monday, May 6.”

Tickets for the Reveal Appeal night and the full details of this year’s MayFest programme can be seen at

Tickets for the fundraiser are also available from King Street Kitchen and Gift in King Street, Richmond.
