The opening of Mr Yorke’s Walled Garden in Richmond raised £1,700 for local charity, Just the Job.

The garden was visited by 150 people who enjoyed an afternoon which included music by Trouvere and home-made cakes on sale.

The money will go towards Just the Job’s plans for the Big Green Build.

Marcia McLuckie, who owns the garden with her husband Dennis, said: “It was a lovely afternoon and we were very lucky to have sunshine.

“We are very pleased to support Just the Job and their Big Green Build project, which will benefit all the people who use the facility.

“This is a pioneering project for the local area, incorporating solar panels, green roof, reed bed water filtration, timber frame construction and straw bale insulation.

“We wish them every success with their fund-raising and building.”
