Gas network improvements planned for Richmond

Traffic lights will be in place later this month while improvements to the gas network are carried out in Richmond.

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will be carrying out work to upgrade the gas network in Richmond from September 21.

The project, which will last five weeks, will see the ageing metal pipework replaced by new, more durable plastic pipes, with the aim of ensuring a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers.

The project has been planned in collaboration with North Yorkshire County Council.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Bridge Street at the corner of The Green and moving over the bridge on to Slee Gill from 8.00am on Monday, September 21 for the duration of the work.

Signs will be displayed for motorists.

Steve Pigott, business operations lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “This project will ensure a safe and reliable gas supply for homes and businesses in Richmond for many years to come.

“We appreciate that nobody likes roadworks, but we can assure road users and residents that our team will be working hard to complete this project as quickly and safely as possible.”
