Gayle Mill reopens for public tours

Stuart Parsons leads a tour of the mill.

Gayle Mill has reopened to the public with tours four days a week throughout the spring and summer.

The mill, in Gayle, near Hawes, will be open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with tours at 10am, 11am, 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

The tours cost £5 per adult.

“All others are free as we wish to support the educational aspirations of young people,” said manager Stuart Parsons.

He added that they would be delighted  to welcome more volunteers.

He said: “We need people who will be happy to operate as tour guides, help with day to day maintenance and a programme of long term maintenance.”
