The Nutrition Hut, based at Richmond Swimming Pool, has been accredited with the gold standard in North Yorkshire Council’s Healthier Choices Awards, an initiative to recognise those businesses that are providing their customers with healthier eating choices.
Founder David Routledge said the use of high-quality ingredients made all the difference in creating the best quality cuisine.
“Everything we use is fresh and all of our meals are cooked on site.
“Following a visit by the Trading Standards Project team from North Yorkshire Council, we were assessed on our menu; the ingredients we use and our cooking methods.
“Also by offering the choice of portion size and healthy options we are allowing our customers the choice to eat more healthily.”
The scheme is point-based and a business can be awarded gold, silver or bronze and David said they were delighted to achieve the gold award straight away, without having to make any tweaks to their menu or ingredients.
He added: “To qualify for the award the menu options are judged on their nutritional value and how they ensure the meals are balanced, prepared and cooked in a health-conscious manner without compromising on taste or customer satisfaction.”
