Golf day in memory of Richmond firefighter raises £1,600 for hospice

A charity golf day in memory of a Richmond firefighter raised £1,673.

Richmond fighter Garry ‘Mac’ McCafferty lost his battle with cancer in May 2016.

Before his death, Garry was cared for at St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington and his eight-year-old daughter Lily-Mae and wife, Kelly, continue to access support from the hospice’s family welfare team.

Staff at Richmond Fire Station now hold the Garry Mac Memorial Golf Day at Richmond Golf Club to raise funds and support the local charity.

The second event took place on September 23.

The cheque was presented to the hospice by Kelly, Lily-Mae and Richmond crew manager Craig Miller.
