Golfers swapped Richmond Golf Club’s usual course layout for something a little different when the club staged its annual Cross Country Golf competition.
The event was held on Thursday, September 3, with 56 players taking part in the pairs Stableford competition.
Rather than playing the holes in their normal order, competitors tackled a specially arranged nine-hole course which sent them across different parts of the course.
Among the unusual holes, players started from the 10th tee and aimed for the second green, while another challenge took competitors from the fifth tee to the 18th green.
Organisers said the competition was very well supported, with everyone enjoying the unusual format.
In the ladies’ competition, Daphne Ledger and Amanda Peirson took first place with 21 points.
Steve Morris and Dave Maude won the gents’ section on countback after scoring 24 points, while Barbara and Steve Willis topped the mixed competition with 25 points.
The sporting event was followed two days later by a special celebration at the club.
Members gathered on Saturday, September 5, to celebrate the wedding of club chair Lee Coward to this year’s Lady Captain, Claire Bateman.
The occasion rounded off a memorable few days for the Richmond club.
