Grand raffle raises almost £3,500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance

A raffle organised by staff at a Colburn company has raised thousands for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

More than 140 raffle prizes were collected by The Vehicle Group (TVG), based at Colburn Business Park.

It was the second raffle they had organised for the air ambulance.

This year’s event raised a total of £3,491.95 for the charity.

Linda Stead, regional fundraiser for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, collected the cheque with local volunteer fundraiser Olga Ashton.

Linda said: “It’s a huge amount – more than double what they raised last year.

“It’s amazing. Yorkshire Air Ambulance needs to raise £12,000 per day to keep both of Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s helicopters maintained and in the air.

“It costs £3,500 each time we go out so this will pay for one of those.

“The generosity of those who donated prizes was amazing and we can;t thank them enough for their continued support.”

Tickets were sold for the raffle in Richmond before Christmas and the draw took a full day to complete.

Paula Underwood, from TVG, organised the fundraising.

She said: “I’m in awe of everybody that contributed.

“People were so generous and happy to give up their time. I think the air ambulance is a charity that resonates with everyone.”

Many Richmondshire businesses, as well as TVG suppliers and customers, donated to the raffle.

The prizes included everything from cheese and chocolates to Lamborghini experience vouchers.
