The Green Howards Museum is asking shoppers at the Co-op to choose the venue to be their ‘community cause’.
The scheme means the museum will receive money every time a shopper, who has chosen it as a recipient, purchases items at the store.
The funding will be used to keep the museum’s new workshops and history clubs going after the initial pilot phase ends.
The museum’s learning officer, Carl Watts, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been chosen to benefit as a Co-op cause.
“The museum’s collection can be used to teach anything from technology and numeracy, textiles and art, to literacy and politics, so we know there’s the potential to reach lots of young people with this project.
“It’s great that Co-op shoppers can now help support our work.”
