Green Howards veterans have raised £7,000 for military charities after completing a Coast to Coast cycle challenge.
The veterans gathered at The Green Howards Museum in Richmond to present the proceeds from their fundraising ride, which took place in July.
The £7,000 will be divided between The Green Howards Trust, The Green Howards Association and the Royal Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Trust.
The group raised the money by cycling from Morecambe to Saltburn, accompanied on the challenge by bestselling SAS author Chris Ryan.
Richmond was a scheduled overnight stop during the ride and Chris also gave a sold-out talk at The Green Howards Museum.
The author spoke about his latest book, Breakout, as well as sharing stories from his military career and his journey to joining the SAS.
Organisers also thanked the volunteers who supported the riders during the challenge by transporting luggage, coordinating the event and helping to keep participants safe.
Marie Woods, chief executive of The Green Howards Trust and Museum, said: “Absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our wonderful Green Howards veterans.
“Their passion and dedication in helping serve our military family has never been more important. We thank you wholeheartedly for standing by us.”
Mick Lynch, assistant regimental secretary of the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, said: “The Royal Yorkshire Regiment are very grateful for this significant contribution to our charitable trust.
“The money will be used to directly support our service personnel, veterans and their families.”
Mike Saunby, secretary of The Green Howards Association, said its share would help provide regimental representation at Green Howard funerals, organise reunion events and maintain the regiment’s presence.
He added: “Once a Green Howard, always a Green Howard.”
The Green Howards Museum is open from 10am until 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, with last admission at 4pm.
