A successful concert at St Andrew’s church, Grinton, raised just over £1,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service – enough to keep the helicopter in the air for two hours.
The event was organised by Reeth Brass Band who played a wide assortment of pieces ranging from excerpts from classical overtures to well known popular music and theme tunes.
The band was ably supported by the Brompton-on-Swale Ladies Choir with a similarly wide ranging repertoire.

One delighted audience member wrote afterwards: “May I take this opportunity to thank…members of the Brass Band for an enjoyable afternoon and their music was both enjoyable and to the highest standard.
“As one who has studied Opera and Oratorio in the past, I can well appreciate the dedication of your members in producing such an enjoyable afternoon.”
Reeth Brass Band currently has vacancies for experienced cornet players.
