Ground-breaking play The Audience to be screened at TOSH in Leyburn

Leyburn Arts and Community Centre will screen a recording of the ground-breaking play The Audience later this month.

The play is part of the National Theatre Live project that shows world-class theatre to cinemas ‘as live’.

Helen Mirren stars in the role of Queen Elizabeth II.

This story continues after the adverts:

For sixty years the Queen has met each of her Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace. Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said.

The Audience breaks this contract of silence and imagines a series of pivotal meetings between the Downing Street incumbents and their Queen.

Politicians come and go through the revolving door of electoral politics, while she remains constant, waiting to welcome her next Prime Minister.

The recording includes a presenter introduction, documentary, interval and Q&A session.

Tickets are £6/£5.
