Group committed to tackle climate emergency launches in Richmond

The event will be held at Richmondshire Cricket Club.

A new community group committed to tackling the climate emergency will be launched in Richmond later this month.

The launch of Climate Action Richmondshire will be held at Richmondshire Cricket Club on Wednesday, March 25 from 7pm to 9pm.

The new group will join hundreds of Climate Action Groups across the country focusing on tackling climate change.

Students from St Francis Xavier School in Richmond will address the meeting to demand positive change to protect their futures and showcase how they are taking action at the school.

Simon Bowens, from Friends of the Earth, which is supporting Climate Action Groups, said: “Climate change is driving extreme weather with devastating impact on people’s lives in Richmondshire and around the world.

“Scientists are clear that, unless we get a grip on climate-wrecking emissions, we’re heading for much worse.

“But we still have time to fix this and we have the solutions that we need at our fingertips.”

Climate Action Groups around the UK are taking the lead by creating a vision for greener, fairer communities and committing to make these visions happen.”

All are welcome to this free event.
