Hawes children raise more than £500 for cancer charity

Children from Hawes Primary School have raised more than £500 to help the fight against cancer.

The whole of Hawes Primary School walked down to the community field last week.

Mr Bullock, the sports coach, had set up a course which went all around two fields.

This story continues after the adverts:

The children all wore a card on their backs which stated who they were running for, in celebration or in memory.

The children ran several circuits over the period of an hour.

Head teacher Hanna Vasey said: “Cancer Research is very important to the pupils of Hawes Primary School and many children ran in the memory of a past headteacher David Eldridge, who died of cancer a few years ago.”

Many of the children ran in memory of former head David Eldridge.

The run has raised £545 so far for Cancer Research.

The children all received a medal for the efforts.

“Everyone had a great time being together and running for this worth while cause,” the head added.

  1. So happy to read this, David was my brother. I live in Belize, and work with children here in our church, St Ann’s Anglican. Well done.
