Part of the dry stone wall boundary of Hawes Community Fields has been restored, following a walling competition which took place yesterday.
Simon Morphet from Bentham took the £130 prize for first place in the professional class, with Joe Forrest coming second and Dave Whaley third.
In the amateur class, High Abbotside dairy farmer Richard Cloughton won £85 for a first place finish, with Tom Willoughby in second and Ian Sleightholm third.
Around 150 people looked in on the competition during a sunny day, with around £160 being raised from refreshments to go towards the proposed ‘Johnny Walker Community Pavilion’, which it is hoped will be built on the fields.
Judge Dave Leedale, from Skeeby, was thanked by competition organiser and chairman of the Upper Wensleydale Sports and Recreational Association, Gordon Sleightholm.
