An 85-year-old Harmby resident has once again put her best foot forward for a good cause — this time raising almost £500 to support the refurbishment of Harmby Village Hall.
Helen Robson, who takes on a walking fundraiser every year, braved wet and windy weather on September 20, completing her latest challenge in three and a half hours.
She wasn’t alone on her trek — she was joined by another local, Helen Marshall, and her spaniel, Tyke, as the pair took on the walk together to raise funds towards improving the much-loved village facility.
The money raised will go towards upgrading the hall’s heaters, kitchen, and toilets as part of a wider refurbishment project.
Mrs Robson, a retired radiographer, said: “Back in my day I could walk 20 miles in a day but I thought that might be pushing so we walked ten miles from Bedale back to Harmby.
“We didn’t pick the best day for it though!”
