Help is wanted to compile a map detailing Richmondshire projects tackling climate change which is being drawn up by a university student.
Alice Foster is appealing to community groups and organisations across the district to add their schemes to the list, however large or small.
The environmental science student at the University of Hull wants to hear about all types of projects.
They could be nature based schemes such as tree planting or village allotments; technology based such as solar power; or community schemes such as recycling or minimising food waste.
She is working with Richmondshire District Council as part of the council’s climate change programme – it has set a target to be net carbon neutral in its own activities and operations by 2030 and encourage others to help achieve the same for the district as a whole.
“We want to hear about all projects so we can map them out for the whole of Richmondshire – which we then hope will inspire and encourage other groups to get involved and help local people learn from each other,” said climate change spokesperson, Councillor Philip Wicks.
“We believe there are lots of schemes and activities going on around the district that we don’t know about, but will contribute to our ambitions.
“Alice approached us for some project work for her course and we are delighted to have her on board – she is very passionate about this area of work and the map she creates is likely to become a constantly changing document as more projects come on board.
“It is a very exciting project.”

Alice, from Hull, is a mature third year student and the project will contribute to the professional consultancy module of her course.
