A lorry driver had to be cut free by firefighters after his vehicle overturned on the Scotch Corner roundabout on Tuesday.

Police, paramedics and fire crews from Richmond and Darlington responded to the incident at about 1.40pm.

One male casualty was trapped in the cab.

Fire crews removed the windscreen to release him and he was checked over by ambulance crews at the scene.

His injuries were not thought to be serious.

The road was partially blocked into the evening while the vehicle was recovered and its load cleared up.
