History made as first all-female watch goes on duty at Richmond Fire Station

History was made at Richmond Fire Station today as an all-female watch officially went on duty.

It is the first time in North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s history that all-female crew has been on shift together.

A spokesperson said: “While every member of our team is trained to the same rigorous standards, today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a more inclusive and diverse fire service.

“These trailblazers aren’t just answering calls today; they’re showing the next generation that there is a place for everyone in uniform.”
