
Organisers of Hawes and District Gala have appealed for information on the event’s history.
The appeal comes as plans are put in place for the gala’s 50th anniversary event which will take place on June 24.
Committee member Emily Pickard said: “For the event’s 50th anniversary we are hoping to find out more about its history.

“We would love to hear from people who may information on who started the gala, whose idea was it and who was on the first ever committee.”
Fundraising events will take place ahead of the gala.
Next Wednesday (April 19) there will be a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
The event will take place in Hawes Market Hall. There is an £8 entry fee per child which includes food for the children and games.
There will be special guest appearances, followed by a disco.
Under 5s must be accompanied by an adult.

On May 6, the committee will be providing the refreshments for the Hoppers sale.
Any food/refreshments donations would be greatly appreciated and can be brought to the Market Hall on the morning of the sale or can be left with Emma Guy at 37 Little Ings, Gayle or Louise Raw, 14 Little Ings, Gayle.
They will then be serving all-day breakfasts at the table top sale in the Market Hall from 10am to 4pm on May 23.
Free entrywith a big breakfast costing £5.
