Horse rescued from slurry pit

A horse was rescued from a slurry pit by firefighters last night.

The crew from Richmond was called to the incident near Brompton-on-Swale at 6.40pm

The horse had become trapped in the slurry put.

Firefighters used an inflatable walkway, dry suites and lines to pull the animal clear.

A vet was called but was not needed and the horse was uninjured.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service it was able to join other horses in the field immediately after its ordeal.
