Hundreds of homes and businesses were left without power this afternoon.
Northern Powergrid said 810 properties were without electricity in the DL8 postcode area.
Homes and businesses in Wensleydale were among those affected.
The company said it was an unplanned issue and that it had to switch off the power for safety purposes while its engineers worked on the cables and equipment in the area.
The power cut was reported at 3.12pm.
It was due to be restored by 4.30pm.
A spokesperson said; “Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
