Hunton Steam Gathering organisers hand out £9,000 to good causes

The Hunton Steam Gathering voluntary organising committee.

Organisers of Hunton Steam Gathering have handed out £9,000 to charities and good causes.

The money was raised at the last event in September 2023.

The donations were handed out at Hunton Village Hall on Friday.

Ben Jobling, from the organising committee, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to those that supported the event in 2023 and continue to make the event a success.

“Their continued support of the event allows support of many great local causes and charities.”

Ben added: “We used the evening to also say a massive thank you to all the additional volunteers and land owners, without whom, the event would not be possible.”

The good causes to benefit included Butterwick Hospice, Dementia Forward, The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Hunton & Arrathorne Primary School, Hunton in Bloom,  Marie Curie, Macmillan Cancer Support, Wensleydale Railway, Wensleydale Tournament of Song, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Yorkshire Cancer Research

The Hunton Steam Gathering returns on the September 7 and 8 this year.

  1. I remember going to watch some of the very early Hunton Steam Gatherings when it was just a small event at the back of the pub in Hunton, then in later years I had the privilege of taking part in some of the events as it got bigger and bigger each year but it’s never lost its friendly warm inviting atmosphere and always gives a lot of money each year to good local causes.

If you’ve never been before then in September remember to just go and have a look for your self.
