The Garsdale Station Shuttle Bus service operated by the Little White Bus has been improved for summer 2024, officials say.

On Mondays to Saturdays there are now two additional scheduled return trips between Gayle, Hawes, Hardraw, the Moorcock and Garsdale Station, both connecting with trains to both Leeds and Carlisle.

The additional journeys run from Gayle at 11.40am and 2.15pm, and return from Garsdale Station at 12.25pm and 2.55pm.

There are now a total of six return journeys to/from the station on Mondays to Saturdays all year, with no need to book in advance.

On Sundays the Wensleydale Explorer Bus returns for summer 2024 on April 21, also providing six return journeys between Garsdale Station, the Moorcock and Hawes, with two journeys continuing to Bainbridge, Askrigg, Carperby, Redmire and Castle Bolton.

The maximum single fare on all local buses, including the Garsdale Station Shuttle Bus and Wensleydale Explorer Bus is £2, and elderly/disabled bus passes are valid for free travel on the Little White Bus from 830am to 6pm on Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays.

Full details of these services are available in timetable leaflets available from many local outlets, including the Upper Dales Community Office and Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes, and online at www.littlewhitebus.co.uk and www.dalesbus.org

The Summer Sunday DalesBus services in Swaledale will resume for the summer 2024 season on May 5.
