Investigation launched after man stabbed in Colburn

Police say they were called to a violent incident at an address in Colburn in the early hours of yesterday.

A 30-year-old local man suffered a puncture wound to his back which required emergency treatment at hospital in the incident at an address in Sutton Avenue.

The injury is serious but it is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police were called to the address just after 1am on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and have been jointly charged with Section 18 wounding with intent.

The man, who also suffered a serious facial injury which required hospital treatment, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The case was committed to York Crown Court on July 9 and he was remanded in custody.

The 38-year-old woman is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on August 6.

She has been released on conditional police bail.

Police say enquiries remain ongoing into the incident.
