Invite to tea with the Calendar Girls at Leyburn charity event

The Calendar Girls will be the special guests at the event in Leyburn in May.

An invitation has gone out to have tea with the Calendar Girls at an event in Leyburn.

On Saturday May 13, Bloodwise Wensleydale are holding the sixth Beating Blood Cancers Ball in a marquee on the town’s Harmby Road.

Tickets are already sold out for the ball but this year for the first time, preceding the ball on Thursday, May 11, they are hosting an afternoon tea.

Guests will be greeted with a glass of fizz and enjoy music by Zander McMullen while browsing a selection of gift stalls.

Special guest speakers the Calendar Girls will entertain followed by a demonstration by Get Ahead Hats.

Tickets for the afternoon tea cost £22.50 and are available from Clare Partridge on 01969 624350 and Hazel Oliver on 07866 804601.

In 2011 Bellerby man Andrew Moffitt was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

In 2012 friends and family organised the first Beating Blood Cancers Ball to raise money for Research.

This was a huge success and subsequently the Wensleydale Fundraising Group for Bloodwise was established.

To date Bloodwise Wensleydale have raised an amazing £130,000.

This is testament to the generous support of the local community.

Funds have been raised in many ways, including various sporting activities, whisky tasting and even waitresses donating their tips.

As part of the fundraising and covering both events, businesses are invited to sponsor a table for £75 and contributions toward the raffles and our grand charity auction would be gratefully received.

All those who contribute will be acknowledged.
