Jelly the cat rescued from tree by firefighters

Firefighters were called to rescue a cat stuck in a tree yesterday.

A crew from Richmond Fire Station responded to a call to help the RSPCA in Hudswell at 1.45pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Yes, it really does still happen, we rescue all creatures great and small.

“Little Jelly the cat almost used one of his nine lives and was ‘PURRched’ precariously on a branch around 15 metres up and had been stuck there for over 24 hours.

“We used the 13.5 metre ladder and some smooth talking, to safely return Jelly to his owners.”
