Jervaulx wedding cake makers Where the Ribbon Ends are celebrating after winning a national title at the Wedding Industry Awards.

The award comes after the company, based at Jervaulx Abbey Tearoom, were highly commended at the regional awards in 2018 and winning at the regional awards in 2019.

The company is run by sisters Gayle Hussan and Anna Burdon.

Gayle said: “For the national finals, the eight regional winners had to create a three-tiered wedding cake to a brief.

“The brief was the same for everyone and we had just over a week to submit five videos and photographs of the final design.”

The business was started by the sisters’ mother Carol.

Gayle started sugar craft as a hobby in 2013. She joined the family tearoom in 2014.

Anna, who started work with the business in 2010, does all the baking for the tearoom and Where The Ribbon Ends.

Gayle added: “From this background a friendly but professional customer service is what we believe in.

“The awards are judged on previous couples feedback from the previous year, rating and commenting on each part of our service, which makes this award all the more special.

“From the first consultation, we attempt to portray our knowledge and sincerity on to our customer, thereby passing on the experience which we have gained over the last five years.”
