Joshua raises more than £500 for NHS scrubs

Joshua marked off each lap around the garden.

A boy with an incurable disorder has raised more than £500 to pay for scrubs for the NHS and care workers.

Joshua Jessop, 11, took part in the 2.6 Challenge by walking 26 laps around his garden.

Joshua, from Richmond, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is expected to reduce his lifespan.

Mum Karen Jessop said he just wanted to do something to help.

She added: “Walking is getting more difficult for him, especially after surgery last year as he gets painful cramps and falls but he was determined to do something without his wheelchair.”

Joshua completed the 26 laps and smashed the initial fundraising target of £100 by raising more than £500.

The money will go to Colburn Village Hall where volunteers are coordinating efforts to make dozens of sets of scrubs for NHS and care workers.
