A series of litter picking and weeding sessions have been organised this month in Richmond.

Volunteers are wanted to help tidy up the town ahead of the visit by the Yorkshire in Bloom judges on July 1.

Sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm to 6.30pm from Tuesday, June 11.

Dennis Graves, from bid organisers Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association, said: “If you can spare the time and enjoy making our town look sparkly and clean please come along to the Town Hall.

“All you need is a hoe, brush and pan and a great sense of community spirit.

“We did so well last year, let’s see if we can get gold this time.”
