Junior cricket team benefits from Richmond Meet

Lorraine Hodgson presents Lee York with a cheque to 2018 under-13 top wicket taker Kai York and top run scorer Jake Percival.

A junior cricket team is hoping the support of a local charity will help it knock the opposition for six next season.

Richmond Meet has been announced as the sponsor of Richmondshire Cricket Club’s Under-13 team for the 2019 season.

The team will sport the name of the charity, now in its 126th year, on its shirts as it competes in the North Yorkshire Area Cricket Council (NYACC) league.

Richmondshire head of junior coaching Lee York said: “We are delighted to have secured sponsorship from Richmond Meet for the 2019 season.

“It’s fantastic to be associated with such an old and respected local charity and hopefully it will lead the team to success in the NYACC league.”

Richmond Meet President Lorraine Hodgson said: “We have had a long association with Richmondshire Cricket Club, so we are pleased to have been able to support the junior section by sponsoring the under-13s.

“We are already looking forward to seeing them in action next season.

“As well as supporting a local club which does fantastic work in the community, it will also enable us to promote Richmond Meet to a wider audience.”
