An aerial ladder platform was used to reach the animal.
Firefighters were called out at about 3.40pm on Saturday to the incident in Willance Grove.
The fire crews were called in to help at the request of the police.
It is second cat rescue carried out by Richmondshire firefighters this month following the successful recovery of Jelly the cat from a tree in Hudswell.
