Two lambs dead after sheep worrying incident

Two lambs are deas after a dog worried a flock of sheep.

The incident happened in the Reeth Road area of Richmond near the waterworks on Saturday.

The sheep were chased by a dog which brough on one sheep’s labour.

A police spokesman said: “One lamb has died and another is fighting for its life.

“Sheep worrying is an offence.

“The rest of the flock may now go into early labour or abort their lambs.

“This is how they deal with the frightening experience of having a dog chase them.

“Can we remind everyone that when near livestock all dogs are kept on a lead.”

Police later said both lambs had died.

The dog that committed the offence was described as a greyhound type dog wearing a red jacket.

The owners of the dog were present and fled the area.
